Can the Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee take any property I receive after I file my bankruptcy?


A. You must turn over to the Bankruptcy Trustee some types of non-exempt property that you may acquire within a certain period of time after filing your bankruptcy, but only if that property is from an inheritance, is the result of a property settlement in a divorce or legal separation, is from life insurance proceeds you receive, or amounts exceeding your exemption on tax refunds.
