Can I go bankrupt on past-due phone and utility bills?

A. Yes. However, after the bankruptcy papers are filed with the Court you must go to the phone or utility company and make arrange for continued service. You generally have to pay a deposit for continued service.   These deposits will be applied on your utility bill usually within the coming year;  it acts as a pre-payment on your utility bill.
